CLUB BACKGROUND

To say that there is a long history to Hayes Cricket club is an understatement. So much so that a long standing member Honorary Life Member, Michael J Kirby has published a book entitled The lives and times of Hayes Cricket Club which dates the clubs active years from 1797. The club holds many archive reference documents and pictures, which have sort to establish its place firmly in the community culture.

However the strong attraction to the club is not only the cricket as a sport, but the warm intimate social atmosphere that the club pavilion provides. To relax and enjoy watching children and friends gather within the glorious view of the natural cricket ground or to enjoy a private friends and family celebration in the evening, is what makes people choose to continue to support the club.

In recent times the club has expanded its facilities to encourage pitch hire, local community projects, and sponsorships. The club also has an active yearly diary of public events ranging from Fun Days, Firework Nights and even themed social evenings. If you have any new ideas and initiatives we would love to hear from you. See our Social Events page.

The club is fortunate to have had many committed personal supporters over the years, who have provided exceptional commitment to the club committee. The club committee is a valued democratic structure that has served to represent the members interests.
