2011 News Stories

1st X1 - Thames Valley League Division 2a - Saturday 7th May v Finchampstead 2's

Hayes WON by 3 wickets

Hayes CC 126 for 7 (20-pts) - Finchampstead 2nds 124 all out (5-pts)

Hayes were only fielding 4 players from their exceptional league championship winning team from last season which also included 2 young debutants in George Painter and Aaron Branch.

New captain Andre Jason won the toss and elected to field. The opening pace bowlers were always on top and reduced the oppostion to 40 for 5, an excellent performance from Rodney Pindai behind the wicket also saved a number of wayward deliveries and in turn many possible runs, then the spin bowling of Max Jason and George Painter stopped Finchampstead building a winning score and they were finally all out for 124 in 40.5 overs.

Claudius Wayland 2 for 35, Mani Brar 2 for 33, Vipen Sharma 2 for 17, Max Jason 2 for 25 and George Painter 1 for 8.

The Hayes reply started badly and we were soon 25 for 4, until the ever reliable Simon Green took control at the crease, Rodney Pindai(11) also stayed at the crease for a while and a partnership of 44 was much needed until a good leg cutter removed Rodney, then dubutant George Painter came to the crease to hit a very quick 27 in the best partnership of 46 to bring Hayes within 10 runs of victory, one more wicket fell but this did not change the result as Skippy finished on 45 not out to ensure victory and a great start with all players contributing.
